India Conducts ‘Operation Sindoor’ Strikes, Launches National Essay Competition on Redefining Counter-Terror Policy

The competition aims for participants to explore and express how Operation Sindoor represents a bold and transformative step in India’s evolving counter-terrorism strategy.

New Delhi – India conducted a series of precision air and missile strikes dubbed “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, 2025. These strikes targeted alleged terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir

The operation was carried out in retaliation for a deadly terrorist attack that occurred on April 22 in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, which tragically resulted in the deaths of 26 Hindu tourists.

In related news, as part of the Independence Day Celebrations 2025, the Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with MyGov, has announced an essay competition titled “Operation Sindoor – Redefining India’s Policy Against Terrorism“. This initiative is described as insightful and thought-provoking. It invites young minds and passionate citizens to participate.

The competition aims for participants to explore and express how Operation Sindoor represents a bold and transformative step in India’s evolving counter-terrorism strategy. Essays should reflect on how the operation showcases India’s resilience, strategic depth, and the spirit of national unity against threats to peace and sovereignty. The initiative encourages participants to celebrate India’s resilience and commitment to peace through their words and be a voice for unity, strength, and change.

Participation guidelines for the essay competition stipulate a word limit of 500–600 words and require submissions to be in either Hindi or English. The theme focus for essays includes redefining national security, the role of youth, unity in diversity, and India’s cultural and strategic solidarity. Competition dates: June 1–30, 2025.

Attractive prizes are being offered to participants. The top three shortlisted winners will each be awarded prize money of Rs. 10,000/-. Furthermore, the top 200 participants, along with one companion (such as a spouse, guardian, or relative), will be issued an e-invitation to witness the Independence Day Celebration to be held on August 15, 2025, at Red Fort, Delhi.
